Foundations for Change (F4C)

Overview

F4C is a rolling programme, utilising a strengths based approach with elements of cognitive behavioural theory (CBT) designed to develop and enhance personal and interpersonal skills. This includes:

  • Emotional management
  • Positive communication
  • Problem solving skills
  • Taking responsibility

Each skills session introduces a new skill which is explored to identify the benefits, how to apply each them to participants lives (skill steps) and provides an opportunity for the participants to develop and practice each skill.  Obstacles to each skill will also be identified and solutions sought to overcome these.

The programme consists of 2 pre-group one to one sessions, 8 skill-based group sessions and a post group one to one session. Participants can join at any session on completion of the pre group work. Out of session work is provided to encourage use of the skills and identify any learning needs that can be addressed within in the final one to one session.

Programme Objectives

  • Develop problem solving skills
  • Enhance emotional management and improve resilience
  • Increase positive communication
  • Develop social skills
