Overview
Project PIPA helps individuals who have perpetrated abuse towards an intimate partner to identify and change their abusive behaviour. Project PIPA is suitable for standard-medium risk perpetrators (both male and female), best used as an early intervention or motivational course before attending Safe Relationships.
RISE are currently delivering Project PIPA as part of their suite of Out of Court Disposals (OOCD), funded by Northamptonshire Police, Crime and Fire Commissioner.
The project aims:
- To help participants identify and understand the use of violence and aggression in intimate relationships
- To help participants enhance motivation to make positive long-term changes
- To help participants learn and practice conflict resolution skills
- To help participants develop practical strategies for maintaining change
- Promote safety of partners and children
Support for victims
Contact will be made with the current or ex-partners of the participant affected by the abuse. A service will be offered that provides safety planning information and support whilst the participants are attending the programme.
RISE Domestic Abuse Safety Advisors (DASA’s) are trained specialists who offer support to individuals who have experienced domestic abuse. Every time RISE facilitators work with a service user on a programme addressing domestic abuse, they will ensure that support is offered to the partner.
This course can also be run for local authorities and other organisations, outside of the OOCD pathway.
